Recovering from Laminitis

Blossom was hit by laminitis after she suffered retained placenta membranes after foaling. What followed was a long journey of treatment and rehabilitation.

Six years on, despite continued and regular hoofcare and bodywork, Blossom developed chronic ringbone in the off fore (the loading limb during the laminitic episode). I added in some work on points in the fascia, restoring functional rotation in the joints and enabling straighter and more supportive loading in the off fore hoof.

Bloss-2

The ringbone will not reverse, but Blossom can continue jogging on the trails with her owner – in comfort.13240570_10154040799152626_4265056740168165178_n

Working ASHs and QHs

“Jane has been working on my horses since I saw one of her local demos a year ago. Many of the stock and quarter horses come from stations where they have worked hard and some are also confused and even traumatised by inconsiderate handling in former homes. It’s impossible to train horses that are in pain, Jane has shown me the extent of some of their physical problems, and resolved much of these. Then there’s the emotional side as well, several horses have approached me in the paddock for the first time the morning after her work. All this has given me an insight that makes training easier, so thanks for your work and advice, Jane.” Bernie in Armidale

Formerly malnourished and in pain due to being ridden with badly displaced ribs, this mare will never be perfect, but she’s pain-free and comfortable now.

TB with Pelvic Injury

“Thank you for treating Tommy on your last visit. It was interesting how he came over to greet you and immediately went soft from your touch, soaking up all you offered him. Soon after you left, I noticed his stride was once more lengthened and free. The following morning, I went to take off his light rug to find him totally drenched with sweat, not just in the usual places he sweats, but all over. Strangely enough it was not as warm that morning as on other days when he’d had no sweat at all. He has been getting around a lot more comfortably since, with a much calmer and happier attitude.  Seeing this makes me incredibly happy. Thank you!” Kerrie (Editor: Equine News) in Coffs Harbour

QH, Former Rodeo Master’s Horse

“After 3 years, today was our last session due to your moving home. There were certainly some special moments today. My horse is very shut-down but I have never seen him so interactive. It was like he was really trying to say ‘thank you, Jane, for all that you have done. He is a different horse having known you. Lisa in Lismore

Saying farewell to an old friend and client before I moved from the area.
