The Approach

Equine body articulation is the gentle manipulation and mobilisation of all the joints of the body, including the spine, neck and pelvis, legs, shoulders and hips.  It helps to maintain nerve supply from the vertebral joints, improving blood supply and drainage from all tissues, reducing stiffness in the joints, and helping maintain flexibility.

When used in a therapy framework or routine, these techniques are very powerful in respect to injury assessment. They help to save much time when it comes down to identifying the tissues that need most help – and, vitally, when it is time to call the vet.

While this is an effective, full body address, different articulations can be used at different points in time. There is no need to use the full procedure all the time, as elements may be integrated into any complementary equine practice.

The entire approach is based on assessing and treating muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments, removing tension and restrictions in the horse’s musculoskeletal system and balancing the body structures. This improves function by relieving pain, preventing injury and maximising movement and performance.
